A Summary of the History of Enrique Peña Nieto
One of the front runners for Mexico's elections this 2012 is the rather dashing Enrique Peña Nieto. Most believe that Nieto is going to win the approaching polls. This has led to a great deal of worrying from his competitors in the presidential race.
For all that the official campaign season has not been opened, the man's popularity is already on an upward road. Nieto's talents at addressing the people are well-known, and they have served him well for some time now. Nieto also happens to be an extremely charismatic person, with an innate magnetism.
There are a lot of rumors around Nieto, such as the one that claims that he got so popular because he drew up an agreement with Televisa. It is alleged that the network was in cahoots with him to promote his achievements in the past. Critics and opponents claim that the alleged deal is the reason for Televisa's support of the man.
It is worth noting that people only began talking about this supposed deal following Nieto's admission of a relationship with Ms. Rivera of Televisa. The actress is known for her prolific career in Mexican soaps and is inarguably among the most recognizable faces on Mexican TV. Before Rivera, Nieto was in a marriage with Monica Pretelini, who died.
The pair had a trio of offspring. His first wife passed away due to some heart problems some years ago. The result of Pretelini's passing was a renewed interest in the handsome Nieto as people wondered who would be his next wife.
Nieto's fame with the females is merely a small contributor to his growing reputation. He has also gained attention for having gone around his former area of authority to find out what the locals needed and for working hard to resolve the demands. He is known for having prioritized public works and related projects.
When the promised public works were constructed, Nieto's campaign managers organized huge parties and gatherings for their (and Nieto's) promotion. This is perhaps one big reason for the man's reputation as a politician who actually keeps campaign promises. Detractors do say, though, that the lavish inaugurations for his public works were even more expensive than the actual public works.
An incident at a book fair not too long ago also drew critiques for the politician. It was found then that Nieto could not remember quite a number of important things about the texts he liked best. The politician claimed that he had never been great at recalling book titles and writers, as he was the sort of reader who recalled contents better.
The errors he made, though, set off a wave of critique over various channels. When one of his daughters was asked about it, she delivered a rather emotional response that may not have been wise. Nieto made a handsome admission and apology on behalf of his daughter, but the ridicule remained.
Enrique Peña Nieto has noted that his opponents tend to take his words out of context. That aside, he remains the people's favorite for the elections. Nieto is still considered the person with the biggest chance of winning because of his popularity with voters.
